The Ultimate Collection of List Journal Ideas

I love journaling. One of my favorite types of journals is a list journal. Basically, this is just a journal where you create lists about anything you want to create a list about.

Sometimes I want to write, but I don’t know what to write about, or I’m not looking for any kind of deep philosophical thought for my writing. I just want to get pen to paper. A list journal helps in this case because you’re most likely not working through emotions, or trying to solve a pressing issue in your life. You’re just writing.

Another thing list journals are good for is keeping a document of your life. This works especially well if you frequently create lists in your journal rather than every now and then.

As you create your lists it’s really a document of what is around you in your life right now. The list you create today about a specific topic might be completely different than the list you create on that same topic a year from now. It’s always fun to go back and review your list journal to see what you were thinking about, what your opinions were, and what was important to you in the past. In some cases it can show you where you were and how much progress you’ve made. Other times it can spark memories.

List journals give the appearance of something extremely basic, but deep down, they can hold a lot of information about your life.

List Journal Topic Ideas

This is nowhere near a complete collection of every possible list idea. There’s no way for anyone to collect every single topic, because everyone has their own ideas and situations. A list journal is extremely versatile each person could have just about anything listed inside it.

Sometimes you’re looking for someplace to start, or you need a little inspiration to keep moving. Maybe you just want a new idea you haven’t considered. That’s where this list will help you. It’s a collection of list journal ideas. Topics to get you writing and filling up that journal for a different style of sharing your own personal story.

Some of these topics are broad, some are more specific. Use the list to create your own topics, or treat them as specific or broad as you want. It’s your journal and your life to record after all.

But what if you have designated space for a list and you fill it up, then later you think of more to add to the list but there’s no room?
This kind of journaling fascinates me because I make thists if different stuff. Thanks!!

I, personally, would either just start a new notebook/journal, or I would do my writing on loose leaf paper and plug it into a 3 ring binder. I absolutely love the Five Star Hybrid notebinder. They are fantastic for things like this. Another thing you could do is number your pages and keep an index section. Then if you fill up the list on page 2 and page 27 is the next free page, the index just has the list topic, pg 2, 27.
