My husband is in the military so our schedule and routines can be a bit crazy sometimes and it does mean we have to get creative to create time together sometimes. One of our favorite together times is TV times. I’ll admit it. It’s just nice to be able to sit back, relax and not worry about anyone or anything for awhile. We’re both busy so being not busy, or at least taking a moment to pretend we’re not, is welcome.
I decided to theme one of my gifts to my husband around one of our favorite TV shows. The series may be over, but that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy watching it over and over again. For that reason I designed a gift basket to encourage my husband to Suit Up!
He rarely dresses up to go out unless it’s to the theater with me and the kids. I wanted to give him a gift focused on him and getting together with the guys. I decided I’d have some items to help him spruce himself up, and some items to enjoy with his buddies.
Today I thought I’d show you how to create this fun gift basket for someone special in your life.
Alright, let’s Suit Up!
Suit Up Gift Basket for Him
First I gathered up everything I wanted to include in my gift basket.
I played around with things at the store so I knew it all would fit in my chosen basket. For me, the selection of the basket is the hardest part of the shopping experience once I have a theme idea, and in this case it was an easy choice. That made it even better. For me, the basket is the last component of the entire gift basket selected, but the first one used when assembling.
I decided to use a low cost serving bowl. In my head it will be a great bowl for chips or other salty snacks while he’s hanging out with his friends.
Next I lined the bowl with a bit of tissue paper. It’s not necessarily needed, but it does add some depth and a bit of background for the gift basket. For this one I folded the tissue paper in half then gathered it a bit at the bottom before setting it in the bowl.
I put the biggest item in the basket first. This was the Philips Norelco Multigroom 3100, All-in-One Trimmer with 5 attachments. It’s perfect for my husband to create the look he wants for his time out with friends, but it’s also perfect for him being in the military to maintain a professional appearance. The precision trimmer and the hair clipper comb will be perfect to help him maintain that polished look in between haircuts, especially with self sharpening blades and built in trimming lengths. The beard and stubble comb is going to help him out when he has a couple weeks off and let’s it all grow out! He’ll be able to put his best face forward this holiday season and more.
Next I added a couple of sodas for him to share with friends, and if they want to move onto something a bit more adult after that they can, it’s up to them.
Of course we needed salty snacks. I used some peanut butter filled pretzels because he loves just about anything with peanut butter. The container I bought was too big to place in the gift basket, so I put the pretzels in little plastic baggies and placed them in the basket so the opening was sort of hidden in the back to make it all look nicer.
Next I threw in a brand new tie. If you’re going to suit up, you should have a tie, right? So it didn’t look like it was just thrown in the basket, I rolled it up and placed it in the center of the basket display.
Finally, some poker chips so he would have something fun to do with the guys.
Finally, a gift tag. I picked up some black labels and used a silver marker I had at home to create the gift tag for it.
I ended up giving this basket to my husband early because I knew he had some time off for the holiday and wanted to make sure he had time to use it before his busy season of training prep started at the beginning of the year. His only complaint was that I didn’t write Legendary Wife on the tag. I have to agree, that would have been perfect.
If you want to recreate the Suit Up! Gift Basket for Him, I picked up everything I needed at Walmart.
What I love about this gift basket is that you can customize it to the person you’re giving it too. You can add in a different main focus product by changing it to a Philips Norelco Shaver 3100 or even a Philips Sonicare 2 Series Plaque Control toothbrush. Add in some cologne, bow tie, cuff links or other dressy item your gift recipient might use to Suit Up, and of course you can mix and match the drinks and snacks to better represent the person you’re honoring.
Get creative and Suit Up!

I love this gifting idea too! My husband is a professional and could also use a gift basket from his amazing wife 🙂 #client
