I am incapable of starting my morning without coffee. Well, coffee and a morning browse to see what’s new online, such as the Cooking Up Good website. Ok, I’m sure I’m capable to do it, but I’ll probably zombie walk through a good chunk of my morning, and I probably won’t be my sunshiny self. I know. That’s hard to imagine. Aren’t you glad I always get my coffee fix first thing in the morning?
I mean, look at me. Talk about grumpy! I can side eyes with the best of them immediately after waking up.
Lucky for me Walmart has McCafé pods, so I can start my day of much faster than if I had to wait for a regular cup of coffee to brew.
Last time I was at Walmart they had the McCafé demo. Score! I always love sampling the new products and the McCafé was awesome. I even drank my coffee sample black. No creamer, no sugar. That’s unheard of for me, but I’m glad I tried it before deciding to douse it in creamy, sugary additions. Who knew. I like my McCafé in it’s regular form.
Back to my morning routine, look, in the short time it took you to read about my Walmart trip and for me to brew my McCafé and grab some toast, I’m already smiling. Back to my sunshiny self. I love me some morning McCafé! And to think you were worried. *wink*
One of the things I love about our morning routine is spending just a little extra time recharging with my husband. Even when we both have a great night sleep, we still need that extra coffee boost in the morning to get our engines moving. I’m getting myself psyched up for a busy day with the kids while he’s getting his lunch packed and ready to head out the door for work. Well, after he puts on his uniform, of course. Comfy pants rule! In our house we keep them on as long as we possibly can.
I really need to keep track of everything we do through the day because honestly it seems like we’re on the move the entire day, then suddenly it’s late afternoon and my husband is pulling in the driveway!
Here are some of the highlights of a typical day that I actually remember, I know we do sooooo much more!
Homework. We homeschool so the kids are always doing something educational related. Science experiments, watching documentaries, creating crafts, writing stories, the list goes on. They love doing workbooks, so those usually make an appearance sometime in the day.
We typically take a bath/shower sometime in there, obviously get dressed (remember, I said we like to stay in comfy clothes as long as possible). The running of errands will occur. This can be anything from stopping at the store for that single necessity for the day, to full on groceries. We might go out for an oil change or to the bank. Dr’s appointments, swim lessons, Homeschool co op, play dates, museums, the zoo, and so much more. Often we’ll be out for at least four hours. Lunch makes it’s way in there somewhere too.
Once we’re home again, it’s time for a little bit of reading by the fireplace. It’s winter here, so the kids are always excited about turning the fireplace on.
I always breathe a little sigh of relief when my husband gets home. I know he works too, but wow, keeping up with the kid all day and getting all of my work done (I work from home in addition to all of that chaos listed above) I’m so glad I can have time where the parenting is shared and I can sit back and put my feet up with a cup of McCafé again. I think we both need a second recharge for the day, unlike the kids who keep moving! I wish I had some of their energy.
While we enjoy our McCafé, this is often a great time for us to spend time as a family. Sometimes we have a tea party, sometimes we watch movies, or create a new recipe we find on the Cooking Up Good website. It has recipes, sweepstakes, loyalty programs, coupons and more! What’s not to love?
Today the family recharging activity was chess. The kids love this game! It’s also the perfect game to enjoy a cup of McCafé with.
