I’ve been hearing a lot of people comment that all they see on Facebook is negative, hateful, depressing news and/or comments from other people and it’s bringing them down. I don’t blame you. There is a lot of important things happening in the United States and around the world that everyone has strong opinions on. That’s a good thing. It’s important to know what’s happening in the world. We can’t ignore it because change can’t happen if we do.
With that said, we also can’t let ourselves get completely overwhelmed with all of the negative in the world. We need to be at our best to help foster in those changes, and a little bit of positive in our newsfeeds can make a difference in our mental wellbeing. This study in PLOS ONE suggests the emotions you express in your social media posts can be contagious. In a nutshell, if you post a positive message others will, in turn, have a boost to their own emotions. This is fantastic information we can utilize in our everyday lives!
The Positive Life Facebook Challenge, #SunshineYourFeed is an attempt to get some more positive vibes flowing on Facebook. Let’s spread some smiles to our friends and family and give them a break from the negative news so they can recharge those emotions and bring a little joy into their lives.
Here’s how it works:
Positive Life August Facebook Challenge #SunshineYourLife
Join the Living a Sunshine Life Facebook Group. This is where you will find the daily details for the challenge throughout the month of August.
From August 1-31 I will post a prompt each day in the group for you to create a Facebook post on your own wall (or even the group if you want to share) to spread some positivity. Get creative with your shares and feel free to add photos or post more than once through the day. This is all about sharing some happy mojo with the Facebook world. Have fun with it.
You can use the hashtag #SunshineYourFeed so others can see what you’ve posted. If you make your posts public anyone can see these posts when searching the hashtag. Don’t worry, you can still use the hashtag even if your posts aren’t public. In that situation only your Facebook friends will be able to see your posts when searching the hashtag. This is a great way for you and your friends to quickly see each others challenge posts each day.
If you don’t like the prompt, or don’t know what to say, feel free to share your own positive message using the hashtag.
#SunshineYourFeed Button
If you are a blogger, you can share this challenge with others through a button on your website. Here’s the code.

That’s it. It’s pretty simple. Just check the group daily for your prompt and spread some love on your Facebook feed through August. I can’t wait to see what everyone shares!
Don’t forget to join the Living a Sunshine Life email list so you never miss a blog post from me!
