Complimentary tickets to each of the participating exhibits and show were received as compensation for promoting the Omaha Underwater Treasure Hunt.
Last week we were invited to a sneak peek of the new Omaha Children’s Museum exhibits and I can tell you they are fantastic! We watched part of the pirate ship going up, we witnessed prehistoric sea creatures swimming through the exhibit, and the kids had the opportunity to give their best mermaid pose on a giant clamshell. I don’t want to forget they met Princess Rose, she told them all a story, and gave them a little taste of magic they all hold in their hearts. My kids are still smiling about that a week later!
If you’ve been to the Omaha Children’s Museum I’m sure you’re familiar with the water table for the kids to splash and play on. Guess what, they have a brand new table with more space, different heights to accommodate kids of all sizes, plus it holds all kinds of educational value from how dams work to animals in the wetlands. You have to check it out. My favorite is the little cloud water fountain. It’s so cool!
We learned that the Omaha Children’s Museum is also partnering with The Rose and The Durham Museum for an Omaha Underwater Treasure Hunt from June 1-30! Omaha Children’s Museum featured exhibit is Pirates and Mermaids: Voyage to Creature Cove from May 28 through Sept. 4. The Durham Museum has “Odyssey’s SHIPWRECK! Pirates and Treasure” from May 28 through Aug. 28. Finally don’t miss “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” at The Rose from June 3-26!
Here’s how the treasure hunt works:
Pick up a treasure hunt card at one of the participating locations’ front desk and using the clue, find the treasure chest. You’ll need to get a stamp on the treasure hunt card and collect your prize. Find all three treasure chests, collect all three stamps and then submit your treasure hunt card for a chance to win the grand prize!
Grand prize: One winner will receive a year-long family membership to Omaha Children’s Museum, The Rose Theater AND The Durham Museum! Now that’s a triple prize worth it’s weight in gold!
In case you need addresses to these fantastic locations so you don’t miss an entry, here they are, all in Omaha, NE:
- Omaha Children’s Museum, 500 S. 20th St.
- The Rose Theater, 2001 Farnam St.
- The Durham Museum, 801 S. 10th St.
How about a little sneak peek of your own of two of the exhibits:
First a view of the Omaha Children’s Museum pirate ship from the perspective of the ball pit. Yeah, that’s right, they have a ball pit up there! Oh, and I do believe that is a Megalodon there in the background!
When you’re done there, head over to The Durham Museum to check out some real artifacts from shipwrecks, coins, as well as exploration technology!
It’s going to be a month of exploring the ocean in our household and these events are perfect! I hope you’ll join me at these three amazing locations to learn about pirates, shipwrecks and watch a fantastic performance at The Rose! I don’t know who’s more excited, me or the kids?!
What’s your favorite event that any of these Omaha locations have put on? Any exhibits, shows, or community events. I want to hear what you loved!
