Just got home from trick or treating. Washed the kids faces, let them pick out once piece of candy each as a treat for tonight, then let them veg out in front of the TV for a show or two before bed. Took a look at my email and realized
NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH STARTS TOMORROW!!
Every year I have the best intentions of writing all month long, and then realize I have a much bigger event that needs my attention instead. This year, I have nothing big to get in my way! This is a first since I seem to thrive on big events, such as deployments, births, house buying, and so much more. I smell something big in the air since it’s been a little while since the last big event and I’m getting a bit twitchy waiting for it. But since it doesn’t look like November this year is going to be the date for it, I’ll be doing my best on NaNoWriMo!

When I do participate I get more written with each progressing year, so maybe this year I’ll actually complete it! Here’s how it works. You sign up for a free account on http://www.nanowrimo.org and put in some minor details about your novel. Then you can track your word count on the site with a goal of writing 50 thousand words in one month. It scrambles the words for you, so you don’t have to worry about someone stealing your brilliant ideas. Another great thing I love about the event is it doesn’t matter what kind of quality you get out of it, they are only worried about quantity. NaNoWriMo is designed to get people to just sit down and write, which can be the beast that so many people run into when deciding they want to write. It’s so easy to decide to do something else. This month, each year, gives people the motivation to overcome the procrastination and get some ideas on paper (or computer for most).
I’ll be participating this year, I hope you’ll join me! If you’d like to follow me and friend me on the NaNoWriMo page, my user ID is sunny238, feel free to add me and give me your handle as well so I can follow and motivate you along the way.
“You fail only if you stop writing.”

I wish I had enough time to work on a project like this but my blog keeps me busy! Good luck!
I have been wanting to write a novel for years, but it always takes a back burner to life. Thanks so much for sharing this. Maybe this year is the year.
Eep! I love NaNoWriMo and am participating again this year, I slept through my scheduled midnight write in though, whoops! Not a perfect start, haha.
I did the same, lol. I was exhausted after working the office for my home job (I have night admin hours), trick or treating and blogging. But I’m determined to cut out some time for this every day! What is your username? if you get on there this year I’ll add you as a writing buddy.
I have tried for two months to accomplish this month of writing, and failed both years. This year I did not sign up, but I am going to try to write. Maybe next year I can accomplish a schedule that I can follow. Good writing to you!
Wow Mary, that’s awesome. Wishing you all the best with your journey and I’d love to follow your novel on my Book Club page. Thanks for sharing. #HappyReading
I’ve tried to write a memoir several times.. This sounds like a great site. Thanks for sharing!
I always tell myself I’m going to do this AND finish the whole month. And it never fails, life gets in the way!! I wish you tons of writing luck!!!!
