I can’t believe it’s been five years to the day since we adopted Glory. It seems like she’s been a part of our family for a lot longer than that.
When we adopted Glory we received no information about her other than what the humane society learned about her in the short time she was with them. She was a stray, about three years old at the time, and she was healthy and spayed according to the medical information.
That was it.
We had to learn everything else ourselves. It’s been a lot of fun getting to know her over the past year, and thanks to my ambassadorship with Beneful, you’ve had the opportunity to learn a bit more about her too.
We’ve shared about our dream for a reactive dog friendly dog park, as well as our own methods of making sure she gets enough exercise. You’ve probably learned that she’s got a good face for photographs, and she’s not too bad at making cute videos.
Glory’s Birthday Tradition
After all of this, one thing we still don’t know, and will probably never know, is when her real birthday is. Due to this we decided we’ll celebrate her birthday every year on December 20th. Five days before Christmas. I think that was a fantastic gift for both her and our family!
This year Beneful got in on the celebrating fun. We received a mystery package from them. Glory wasn’t too interested in it at first.
Although once Nick started opening it and showed her what was inside she got a little more excited.
According to Glory, that stuffed birthday cake that plays the birthday song was the best gift in the world! Well, aside from being adopted into a family who loves and spoils her.
Beneful also sent along a birthday hat for Glory (which she only tolerated for a few minutes), a squeaky ball, some Beneful treats, and a birthday card. Thank you Beneful! She loved her gifts! Well most of them.
Christmas Tradition
With the tree in the background, you know this isn’t the only holiday tradition we have for Glory. Not only do we celebrate her birthday/adoption day, but she also gets to celebrate Christmas with us!
On Christmas Eve she gets to ride around with us to look at the Christmas lights in the fancy neighborhoods. There’s so much going on she always has a lot to see. We also crack the windows so she can take in the smells of the neighborhood.
On Christmas morning she gets to open a stocking with the rest of us. This year we got caught up in the excitement of letting her open her Beneful gift, so we let her open her stocking early.
She was excited!
Her stocking spoils included a new stuffed toy, a raw hide candy cane, a new stocking hat to keep her warm during winter walks, and two of her favorite Beneful food flavors.
If she looks a bit wore out here, it’s because she is. After her birthday present she expended the majority of her energy working to destroy her stuffed birthday cake. She hasn’t succeeded yet, but boy did she try. Then she spent at least thirty minutes carrying around her rawhide candy cane. We’re not exactly sure what she was going to do with it. Was she looking for the perfect place to snuggle up to chew on it, or was she looking for a place to hide it for safekeeping. We’ll never know, but she did a lot of pacing and moving from room to room with it.
Overall Glory had a wonderful day and this is one of those traditions we look forward to celebrating every year with her.

[…] I was excited to take part in a couple of ambassadorships. First I had the opportunity to partner with Beneful and share part of my life with our dog, Glory. Not only did we introduce everyone to the benefits of Beneful, but we had a lot of fun too! We explored everything from exercising Glory to dream dog parks and holiday traditions. […]
