This is the basic homemade spaghetti sauce recipe I make when I’m looking for something quick and easy. Sometimes I’m out of the store bought jars, but I often keep canned tomato products in my pantry because they’re perfect for creating all kinds of different recipes. A simple spaghetti sauce is one of those recipes…

I’m serious when I say this, do not dump that pickle juice when you take that last, salty, sour, delicious pickle morsel out of the jar! Save the juice and the jar.  There are a ton of recipes you can use pickle juice for, but I use it to give myself a healthy, salty snack…

The other day I really wanted pizza. I mean, really wanted pizza. It was a craving to top all cravings I ever had when I was pregnant. Nothing compared to this pit in my stomaching that was begging me for some delicious masterpiece of a meal.  Pizza is one of my downfalls, so, yes, this…

I grew up on a very basic thin broth potato soup.  My mom would dice the potatoes, then add just a little bit of onion to the pot.  She would cover it all with water and let it cook until the potatoes were done.  Then she’d add just a little bit of milk and season…

Sometimes I have no idea what I’m going to make until I make it.  This was one of those recipes.  Sometimes they turn out horrible, sometimes they turn out awesome.  This one turned out awesome.  Recently I renewed my love for lemon in cooking.  Ok, I never really loved it before, but I think that’s…

First I had a craving for chocolate, then after rummaging through the pantry I had a marshmallow craving, then it hit me: I need to make something rocky road themed!  Brownies were my first instinct and when people say to trust your first instinct, they were so right in this case!  Check out that ooey…

My husband came to me the other day letting me know our hot chocolate mix was out.  It doesn’t take long. We love hot chocolate in this house, especially when it starts getting cold out. Our preference is to experiment with ingredients on hand and come up with our own flavors and mixes to warm our hearts…

I love it when peppers are on sale! It means I get to create some fantastic pepper recipes and share them with you! This recipe is great because it’s easy to customize based on what you have on hand or what’s on sale. Around here peppers can get quite pricy so it’s nice to know if…

One thing I love when the air gets crisp and cool and the leaves start to change color is none other than a thick, spicy bowl of chili!  I’m a fan of a strong chili powder and cumin flavor in my chili recipe, but I also love to stir in different ingredients to give my chili the same general consistency and flavor, with a little variety each time.

Today I’m sharing my basic chili recipe with all of you. This is a recipe that has won me the hearts of chili fans all over, as well as top praise at chili contests (among my co workers, at least).
