Glory is more than just a pet, she’s family.
My husband, a self proclaimed dog lover, wanted a dog. We had a house of our own, the kids were a bit older, so I decided it was time. We adopted Glory and that was the beginning of our journey with a dog.
I have always been a cat person. I still am, however over the years with Glory I’ve truly begun to appreciate all that it means to have a dog in the house. The love they offer is given in totally different ways than what a cat has to offer. Even though I’m still a cat person, I think I’ve become a dog person too!
Dogs are Family
A few weeks ago I wrote about service dogs and how Glory provides our family service in her own way. She knows how to comfort every single person in our family, each in a way that is special to that person.
With the kids, Glory likes to spend time hanging out near them while they write, read, and draw. If they are building or crafting, she’s right there too. Both the girls love teaching her tricks. She’s a bit slower to learn from them because they are still learning training techniques, but that just means more Milk-Bones for her as she practices.
Speaking of Milk-Bone, I’m loving the Milk-Bone Gifmaker. Check out Glory and her daily tug game with her new toy. Just another way we show love with each other. Tug is her favorite game. When she tugs she’s absolutely reminding us that Dogs Love More! Head over and make your own gif, it’s a lot of fun and your dog gets to be star of the show.
Glory normally plays tug with my husband; he’s the only one who can match her strength. When she gets to tugging, she really puts all she has into it. It’s their way of bonding. You can tell she loves her tug time because whenever he gets home from work she prances over to greet him, then runs to grab her toy and dips down into the play bow.
Evenings, however, are spent lounging on the couch watching TV. She definitely makes herself comfortable.

With me, Glory likes to hang out near my feet. Doesn’t matter if I’m on the computer getting some work done, stumbling me up in the kitchen hoping for a dropped morsel, or sleeping in a pile of blankets while I nap, she’s near me. My absolute favorite time is when she’s sprawled out in the morning on a pile of blankets in the bedroom and I greet her with our usual “Good Morning Glory” and without moving anything but her tail she starts wagging it like crazy. She may be ignoring me, but I know she loves me.
Glory definitely make our family more. She adds love, humor, fun, and comfort. We know she’s always going to be there for us in the good times and the bad, and we’ll be there for her. She’s a forever pet. She’s a part of our family.
