My life changed the day I discovered matcha. Alright, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but learning about matcha and how to cook with it has become a new, and delicious, pastime for me. In my house right now I have ceremonial matcha for hot tea, sweet matcha for making green tea lattes, and culinary matcha…
Hot Chocolate is a family favorite around here. You may be familiar with some of our favorite DIY hot chocolate mixes, such as the rich and creamy hot chocolate or our peppermint hot chocolate recipe. We wanted to take hot chocolate to another level so we decided on hot chocolate cookies. I tried one batch and failed…
I’ll be the first to admit it. This is the first time I’ve jumped on the pumpkin spice bandwagon, but for good reason! I don’t do “spice.” At least not the spice combos including cinnamon, nutmeg and/or cloves. It’s not my thing and never has been. This is why it’s shocking that I decided to…
It’s my favorite time of year again! Today is the first day of Fall and I’m celebrating with a delicious apple recipe. Every year we go to the apple orchards to pick apples, unfortunately I wasn’t feeling well on the day we had planned so we didn’t get to go. With the orchard being an hour drive away, I’m happy to report that I can still find a wide variety of apples at Bakers!
My husband and I have learned over the years that we have a lot in common. We also have a lot of interests that aren’t exactly the same, but close enough we can enjoy them together. One of those similar but not quite the same interests is coffee. We both agree coffee is a brilliant way to start the day, get us through our afternoon slump, and even enjoy as an after dinner treat. Ok, really, for us, there isn’t a wrong time of day to enjoy coffee.
The part where we differ in our opinions is the best way to enjoy coffee. He’s all about a hot cup of coffee, even on a scorching summer day. I’m all about the iced coffee. Perfect to cool down on a hot summer day, or to sweeten my middle of winter day.
Our love for coffee could get expensive if we took the time to hit up a coffee shop everyday, multiple times a day. Luckily we don’t have to. My husband is on his own for his hot cuppa joe. He’s okay with that, I’ve made it easy on him. He has a coffee pot, a French Press, and a tea kettle to make instant coffee.
I made things even easier for myself too.
This summer has been filled with so many fun outdoor activities I’m beside myself. I love it! We’ve been on hikes, we’ve been swimming, exploring, splash parks, playgrounds, and just plain enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. We’re making wonderful memories, but I’d be lying if I said the heat is on my favorite list. I’m more of a cooler weather person. Not winter, that’s too cold. More like decent spring and fall weather. In between the extremes. For this reason I like to partner my hot summer afternoons with a bit of a colder balance. Water balloon fights, playing in the sprinkler and ice cream.
I seriously just took a moment to sigh in satisfaction at the idea of ice cream.
Earlier this week I created the best milkshake I’ve ever made. I think I need an award for this one. Chocolate, caramel and pecans. That’s right, I made a Turtle Milkshake and I enjoyed every last bit of it.
Because it was so amazing, I decided I should share it with you. Why keep this golden recipe to myself. It needs to be enjoyed by the world.
The weather is warmer and that means a lot of my favorite produce is in season! You know this means flavor!! No more summer fruits in winter that taste bland, it’s time for bright colors and full, juicy flavor. With summer holidays right around the corner I decided it was time to start creating some new fresh ideas for backyard BBQ’s and holiday celebrations such as Memorial Day and Fourth of July.
We walked into Bakers the other day and were reminded of the awesomeness that is fresh produce this time of year. Right up front they had watermelon samples! The girls love to enjoy watermelon cut into triangle slices, so they weren’t disappointed. Me, I wasn’t disappointed because the color was beautiful and the flavor matched. Yes, it’s time for summer. Watermelon, in the cart. Perfect snack for the kids to munch on while waiting for the grill to heat up their brats. That’s right, my kids want no part of hotdogs, just bring on the brats!
Who doesn’t love caramel apples. Especially those fancy ones you can get at the mall. They cover them in all kinds of things. Different types of chocolate, different crushed candy bars, sprinkles, cookies, nuts, gummy worms, spices and anything else you can think of. Caramel apples these days are a whole lot more than just…
You know I have a love for combining chocolate and hazelnuts, but did you know I love chocolate and mint combined just as much? There is something about the cool crisp flavor of mint that works so well with the rich full flavor of chocolate. I wanted to create a simple cookie that highlighted these…
I am so excited! Minions © 2015 Universal Studios. All rights reserved is here! The kids love Despicable Me! and they were besides themselves waiting for Minions to come to DVD so we could own it, and now we do! For us this was a big deal so celebrating the addition of this movie into our collection needed to have something special. For that I decided to create both a salty and a sweet treat for us to enjoy. Minions movie parfaits and Minions inspired popcorn.
The first thing you’ll need in order to recreate our celebration is Illumination Entertainment’s Minions movie. Let me make this easy for you, just head over to the Minions movie website to find a retailer and have fun exploring the site. It’s a great way to build excitement! Then head out and pick up your movie. Here’s what it looks like in case you weren’t sure?
